i’ve been on my holidays…

My lovely parents came to visit from Scotland. It’s been 18 months since they were last in Australia, and a good 6 months since I’ve seen them, so we had lots to catch up on…

And while we were on holidays, I did lot’s fun things…

Like take pictures of my culinary stylish delights…

Shopped around the local haunts of Sydney… And considered moving to Paddington 5 ways!

Attended a beautiful and stylish wedding… with my gorgeous friends…

Counted my necklaces, earrings, scarves and hats… and colour coordinate my wardrobe… yes I did! Please do not ask how many I have…

Shopped for ‘accessories’ at West End markets Brisbane, while taking my dad to the German Sausage Hut!

Hosted a ‘Makeup 101′ party with my dear friend Jacq and gorgeous girlies. Top tips on how to apply that perfect red lip, smoke your eyes up, and everyday makeup ‘how to’s’ are coming soon…

Note – One must not use fingers to apply make up.

Spent up a storm in Spotlight AGAIN god dammit. Why do I do it! My VIP card has taken advantage of me!

Wore my high tops around the place, here, there and everywhere…

And then, had my heart broken in saying goodbye (for now) to mum and dad… I swear I’m going to write a book on the heartache and joys of being a dual citizen!

But, alas, I soon had my heart fixed up by my gorgeous supportive husband (who by the way, has been busy helping me put together my brand new ‘pieces’ for Scotch and Rose Style).

It really has been fun, and I feel re-fueled and refreshed to get back on the blog wagon, so I’ll be back sooner than you think! x

autumn attire

Who doesn’t love a change of season, it’s magical. This is my favourite time of year, and I’ll tell you why…

In Australia, the weather is getting just a little bit cooler, it’s after Summer and it’s moving into Winter, so the in-between is Autumn.  Back home in Scotland it’s moving from Winter into (Scottish) Summer, so effectively Spring.

But I’m here in Australia, in Autumn, thinking about back home, but not about Spring… i’m thinking about my favourite season back home… which is actually Autumn… confused much?

In Autumn, the trees start to change and the air get’s gusty! The rusty burnt colours of the trees and the crispy freshness of the air, mmm, I can smell it already! I really am obsessed!

good manners will never go out of style

Manners. People talk about to having them. But do they follow through?

A big bug bear of mine, is when I come across bad social behaviour and downright rudeness. There is no need. Interestingly, I’ve had a few dealings of late, with several young woman who tend to lack in the ‘good manners’ department. It’s really unfortunate when you come across this type of behaviour, it’s a shame that people behave this way -  and it all comes down to respect (or lack thereof)…

What can we do to combat these wee hooligans we wonder? Well, here at S&R, we have decided to showcase a little mood board in simple etiquette, to prompt a friendly reminder…

Good manners are great to have and can help build any new relationship, and retain the old ones. They are also usually met with delight.

It’s going to be a sad day when we lose the generation who taught us about manners.  That’s why we need to make them proud, and practice what we have been taught, every single day!
