You may have been wondering what the heck I’ve been up to of late?
Well, It’s been a busy few months after having our bonny wee lad in February. He’s now 8 months old and the little lightbox of our world. People often ask, ‘do you remember your life without him?’ and while it’s all good and well to sound appropriate and say… oh noooo (and lie), I opt for the non-pc answer – I say ‘yes’. Ha.
I can remember… when my major responsibility was ensuring my go card was topped up, enjoying <copious amounts of> wine and nibbling soft cheese and not worrying about the after effects, the excitement in finding new stylish quirky haunts in my high heels – as opposed to new local coffee shops in my sneakers, dancing into the wee hours with best mates and traveling to new and exciting cities. But… I also can’t wait to share all the things I love (starting with Beyonce) with this little face (and of course, my delicious husband… (and then relay to all the readers of my blog!)).
So what do we really get up to? Well, I decided against the traditional ‘mothers group’, as I see enough of my own boobies – I’ve completely gone off other peoples. So mainly we freestyle. Our days are spent with the camera in hand – taking about 900 pictures (different angles you see). His love of old school RnB has commenced, he LOVES Beyonce (he also loves the grown up Hannah Montana!). I’m teaching him to groove and ‘find the beat’ (he does happen to share his initials with the king of pop). He’s one cool cat in his flat cap and dons many a stylish neckerchief. He also has a lot of lady friends. However, he remains betrothed to Miss Ruby (and her doe eyes – wait till you see them). He’s made more friends this year than I have in my lifetime (so if you know me – then that’s saying something). His BFFs are Olive and Louis. He’s already been on an aeroplane. Fast tracked the queue at the London Eye. Visited Bonny Scotland. Had a Cornish Pastie in Cornwall. Dined in Dubai and shopped in Singapore.
So… without further ado, here he is… little social butterfly himself (loves the camera), Mac Forrest Jamieson.
This wee picture (and others) were taken by our friend Adrian who has a cutesy little photography business.

My lovely parents came to visit from Scotland. It’s been 18 months since they were last in Australia, and a good 6 months since I’ve seen them, so we had lots to catch up on…
And while we were on holidays, I did lot’s fun things…
Like take pictures of my culinary stylish delights…
Interview the talented and inspiring Karen Willis Holmes at her studio in Sydney…
Shopped around the local haunts of Sydney… And considered moving to Paddington 5 ways!
Attended a beautiful and stylish wedding… with my gorgeous friends…
Shopped for ‘accessories’ at West End markets Brisbane, while taking my dad to the German Sausage Hut!
Hosted a ‘Makeup 101′ party with my dear friend Jacq and gorgeous girlies. Top tips on how to apply that perfect red lip, smoke your eyes up, and everyday makeup ‘how to’s’ are coming soon…
Note – One must not use fingers to apply make up.
Spent up a storm in Spotlight AGAIN god dammit. Why do I do it! My VIP card has taken advantage of me!
Wore my high tops around the place, here, there and everywhere…
And then, had my heart broken in saying goodbye (for now) to mum and dad… I swear I’m going to write a book on the heartache and joys of being a dual citizen!
But, alas, I soon had my heart fixed up by my gorgeous supportive husband (who by the way, has been busy helping me put together my brand new ‘pieces’ for Scotch and Rose Style).
It really has been fun, and I feel re-fueled and refreshed to get back on the blog wagon, so I’ll be back sooner than you think! x

Who doesn’t love a change of season, it’s magical. This is my favourite time of year, and I’ll tell you why…
In Australia, the weather is getting just a little bit cooler, it’s after Summer and it’s moving into Winter, so the in-between is Autumn. Back home in Scotland it’s moving from Winter into (Scottish) Summer, so effectively Spring.
But I’m here in Australia, in Autumn, thinking about back home, but not about Spring… i’m thinking about my favourite season back home… which is actually Autumn… confused much?
In Autumn, the trees start to change and the air get’s gusty! The rusty burnt colours of the trees and the crispy freshness of the air, mmm, I can smell it already! I really am obsessed!
Here is a little look I’ve put together for all you Autumn palettes out there x

Manners. People talk about to having them. But do they follow through?
A big bug bear of mine, is when I come across bad social behaviour and downright rudeness. There is no need. Interestingly, I’ve had a few dealings of late, with several young woman who tend to lack in the ‘good manners’ department. It’s really unfortunate when you come across this type of behaviour, it’s a shame that people behave this way - and it all comes down to respect (or lack thereof)…
What can we do to combat these wee hooligans we wonder? Well, here at S&R, we have decided to showcase a little mood board in simple etiquette, to prompt a friendly reminder…
Good manners are great to have and can help build any new relationship, and retain the old ones. They are also usually met with delight.
It’s going to be a sad day when we lose the generation who taught us about manners. That’s why we need to make them proud, and practice what we have been taught, every single day!
‘Remember your manners’ Great Auntie Helen (a wonderful, wonderful woman).
